Hello Blog friends! How are you? Hope you all had a good weekend. Mine was quite good, especially today. I could even say it was the best Sunday I've had in a long time (hence the title).
We didn't do anything that special but I just took time to relax and did things I like.
This morning, I woke up at about 9am and made myself a nice breakfast. I then went to the gym for my body pump class. And I even brought Boyfriend with me. It was his 1st class ever! Not sure he enjoyed it though :s I did. I really like body pump and the instructor, Fiona is really good.
After the class, we showered and had our Sunday roast with Boyfriend’s parents. I quite enjoyed it. As I'm typing, I'm realising that I enjoy my roast dinner when I go to body pump – coincidence???
After lunch, Boyfriend decided to hoover the car so that was the perfect time for me to bake! Yay!
I made Nigella’s “My mother in law’s Madeira cake”. You can find the recipe in “How to be a domestic goddess”.
It was my very 1st Madeira cake (don't think we have it in France – or maybe it’s called something else) so this will be one of my New year’s resolution which was to make at least 1 new cake a month ;)
The recipe was really easy!
As usual, I prepared all my ingredients
Then I made the cake
and here it is, after 1 hour in the oven.
This is a delicious cake! I’ll definitely do it again!
While the cake was in the oven, I just lied down with a coffee and my Kindle and just enjoyed some ME time.
Oh my God. This was fantastic. I feel so good and relaxed now! I'm ready for the upcoming week!
Now, I'm finishing getting ready for tomorrow and then, Boyfriend and I are gonna watch Arctic with Bruce Parry.
Oh, on Saturday, we went to the little village where we bought the flat. We love it as there are quite a few little independent shops. As we were walking down the street, we passed a little shop called Fabulicious Cakes. I had to stop! It is a tiny tiny little shop where Helen works. She makes and decorates cakes. Mainly wedding cakes I think. She also sells a few little things. We chatted with her for a little while and maybe in the future, she’ll be doing some workshops. I'm really excited about it!
And you, how was your weekend? Did you bake anything nice?
I made bread :)
ReplyDeleteMy favourite Nigella cake is the lemon loaf from that same book, I think on page 35?
Lovely you've taken time out to relax and do nice things, I try to do that most weekends :)
I have never made a maderia cake.
ReplyDeleteIt appears that I should!
